Occurrence remarks | Shrubs, up to 1.2 m high. Some stems with a few stem-roots. Leaves papery, upper side glossy, dark green, lower side slightly glossy, pale green. Peduncle, pedicels and calyx red to purple-red. Petals outside pink, inside pinkish white. Staminal tube whitish, anthers white. Fruits broadly elliptoid, up to 5 x 9 mm, medium green, ripe ones black, with pale purple pulp which tastes after grapes, but irritates the tongue because of tiny needles. Seeds brown. |
