Organism remarks Male fanpalm, 2 m tall. Rachis up to 100 cm, light green tinged yellow, bracts covered with rufous brown tomentum. Rachillae up to 30 cm, bracts brownish green fringed with rufous brown hairs, tepals green filaments pale yellow, anthers bright yellow. Leaves. Petiole up to 150 cm below with central dark brown lining, margins with upward pointed spines. Young petioles densely covered with pale brown tomentum. Petiole bases persistent. Blade 180 cm wide, central vein up to 70 cm, 180 cm long. Pinnae up to 110 cm long, divided up to 2/3 with central 'hair'. INITIALLY LABELLED VALKENBURG 2613
