Organism remarks Epiphytic herb, in crown of recently felled huge forest tree, at least 25 m above ground-level. Stem up to 50 cm long, scarsely branches. Stipules comparatively long persistent. Petioles dark brown-red, 1.5-3 cm long. Leaves rather thick leathery, glossy, rather dark green above, much paler green and with pronounced dark red midrib beneath. Peduncle of male inflorescence 10-15 mm long, male inflorescence up to 7-flowered. Outer perianth segments vey dark wine-red with a distinct white edge, broadly ovate, 6 x 4.5 mm. Inner perianth segments much smaller, dark wine red, with a white apex. Anthers appressed, yellow, on a young shoot. The first appearing female inflorescence 1-flowered, later inflorescences 2-flowered. Full-grown mature plants usually with 3-flowered female inflorescences, Styles subuliform 3 or 4. Fruits fusiform, terete in transverse section, pale brown-reddish dotted with pale green, opening with a single slit. Placenta tissue yellow.
