Occurrence remarks Herb, up to 50 cm high. Terrestrial and also lianescens against rocks and trunks or even epiphytical on treetrunk and treeferns up to height of 1.50 m. Stem dark purple-red to green, swollen above the older nodes, with pale green to purple hairs. Leaves papery-herbaceous, above glossy, green with often a purple green margin, beneath somewhat glossy, pale green, sometimes with a pale purple margin. Hairs pale green to red. Stipules pale green. Young leaves often reddish. Sepals 2, elliptic or ovate, top rounded to slightly acute, white. Pedicel of male flowers white. Stamens 13, yellow to orange-yellow. Anthers pale yellow than the filaments. Styles 3, fused at the base, orange-yellow with pale yellow stigmas. Ovary pale green, with almost white hairs on the top of its 3 wings. Inflorescence with 1-3 male flowers and 1 female flower. Bracts linear, very pale green. Older, dry fruits pale brown.
