Additional properties

Organism remarks Stout epiphyte in shrubby tree, up to 4 m above ground level. Stems up to 2 m long, the old parts woody, hollow in the centre. Leaves rather thick soft herbaceous with prominent nervation beneath, the midrib reddish or pale brownish-green. Male flowers usually on separate shoots. Young shoots glossy brown-red, solid (not hollow). Stigmas yellow. Fruits sharp triangular, orange-red. Outer perianth segments pale pinkish, the small inner ones almost white.
