Occurrence remarks Single stemmed female fan palm 15m tall. Leaves, petiole up to 150cm long, leaf 150cm x 200cm , rachillae 2-3 together. Young fruits pale green turning reddish brown when mature. Exocarp sweet smelling, like pineapple juice, obviously nibbled at. Reportedly eaten by elephants. In the herbarium eaten by mice. Seedlings apparently germinating in old crab holes. Old infl., old leaves and fruits collected from the ground. Seedings collected under mother tree for DNA sample.
