Organism remarks	Wiry herbs with strawy clad buried rhizomes giving rise to slightly under 1 m high wiry stems, smooth shiny dull dark green, with swollen nodes and smooth papery leaves, shiny dark green above, shiny but paler below, peduncle pale green at base, clad in reddish to brown sheaths, tip maroon tinged, spikelets with pale green glumes turning maroon at the middle and dry medium brown at the tip, top floret female with altogether pale green glume.
